A Place in the Vendee
The cosmopolitan town of Les Sables d'olonne with its sea front bars and restaurants is also the home of the Vendee Globe. The 'corniche' provides dramatic views from the coastal road leading down to the lovely town.
The Vendee beaches and coastal resorts attract more than 5 million visitors a year. Saint Jean de Monts is one of the most popular and lively resorts of the area.
One of the long sandy beaches along the coast is known as the cote de lumière. It is situated between Noir Moutier and Saint Hilaire de Riez and on a clear day you can see the island 'ile d'yeu'.
The name 'Vendee' is taken from the river that runs through the south east and is famous for it's marches and canals of the Marais Poitevin area.
It is situated on the west coast of France and boasts a micro-climate on a par to that of the CoteD'Azur.
The Vendees well known for its' miles and miles of golden sandy beaches often backed by pine forests. It is perfect for children, wind-surfers and body boaders alike.
Inland you will find delightful towns, villages, chateaus and vineyards.
